Through systematic brand visual design, the Zhejiang Intelligent Ship Research Institute has successfully transformed the technological strength of “major national equipment” into a brand image that combines professionalism and a sense of mission. In just over two years since its establishment, the institute has achieved a series of national-level breakthroughs—successfully developing China’s first 100-ton-class general-purpose maritime unmanned vessel, overcoming the industry-recognized challenge of autonomous departure and berthing for unmanned vessels; completing the retrofit and sea trials of China’s first fishing vessel equipped with an intelligent assisted driving system, which was independently developed by the institute; and seeing its intelligent remote control project win first prize in the first “Navigator Cup” Zhejiang State-owned Assets and State-owned Enterprises Innovation Competition and be selected for Zhejiang Province’s “Vanguard” R&D Program. The institute has been recognized as a National High-Tech Enterprise and has obtained multiple national invention patents, including an underwater target detection method for unmanned surface vessels. The 190,000-square-meter Zhejiang Intelligent Ship R&D Center has begun construction. The refreshed brand visual system provides solid visual support for the institute’s continued leadership in intelligent ships, a strategic emerging industry.

The Zhejiang Intelligent Ship Research Institute is a provincial state-owned enterprise approved by the Zhejiang Provincial Government and a wholly owned subsidiary of Zhejiang Second Light Industry Group. Founded in July 2023, it is the only research-oriented state-owned enterprise in the province engaged in research on large intelligent unmanned surface vessel technology. More than 90% of its scientific and technological R&D personnel hold master’s or doctoral degrees, and it works closely with top institutions such as Zhejiang University, Harbin Institute of Technology, Zhejiang Lab, and the 7th Research Institute of China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC).

This project takes “technological feel, sense of mission, and sense of leadership” as its core directions. The brand uses the streamlined contours of intelligent ships and tech blue as its key visual elements, conveying a pioneering spirit of exploration. Auxiliary graphics draw inspiration from ocean waves, navigation trajectories, and intelligent sensor signals, running through the full range of application materials. The brand visual identity has been fully applied to diverse scenarios such as office systems, promotional materials, digital media, and exhibition hall displays, helping the institute rapidly establish professional recognition and brand trust in key scenarios such as industry conferences, government engagement, and industry-academia-research collaboration.
